Jon Stewart's (latest) Interview with Austan Goolsbee (VIDEO)

There doesn't seem to be an unedited version of this Interview. (You might notice a heavy edit near the beginning of the segment).
Also, was it just me, was Jon a wee more skeptical in this interview than in previous ones. Things are looking up, Jon...just so you know.

Let there be a deal, even though it sucketh! So sayeth the Goolsebee!! (VIDEO)
The Goolsebee has spoken...
The one thing I'll say is, that the block of what even he calls "Obama Tax Cuts", specifically the middle class tax cuts will be on the long-term debt only because there ain't no way in hell, Obama is going to turn that spigot of money off while he's President.
And you will note that Goolsebee said the President's against the Tax Cuts for the high income earners...but he didn't say he'd veto them.

White House White Board: The Rebirth of the American Auto Industry (VIDEO)
Josh Marshall (via TPM) thinks these the White Board videos are "simultaneously quaint, bizarre and also kind of cool". I just think they're cool.

The Daily Show Schedule for the D.C. Shows (October 25-28)
Here's the rundown of guests. I got it on my DVR originally, but now its available at the Daily Show's website.
Monday: Austan Goolsbee (officially now the coolest Economist ever, if that's not a complete contradiction in terms. Third Daily Show appearance, and he's done Colbert)
Tuesday: Senator Ted Kaufman (D-DE)
Wednesday: Some guy named Barack Obama (hear he's a pretty powerful dude in D.C. circles).
Thursday...ummm, ahhh, nothing yet.
My bet is, depending on how the interview shoot goes on Wednesday, we're looking at a two-parter for the President. I know Jon's got a lot of questions.
I need both of these guys to be on their A-games. I need Jon to hit the President with some hard questions. He can even be a touch angry. Then I need the President to hit 'em out of the park.
I'm afraid Colbert didn't get the "big" gets for the Nation on his nights: Nicholas Negroponte might be good, with his one laptop per child intiative, but Gary Willis? Apolo Ohno? Maria Kalman? Doesn't seem to match the D.C. mood. Then again, he has been known to stick interviews in the first segment, so we can see some action there.

Austan Goolsbee and the Big Red Goose-Egg... (VIDEO)
I know. The title sounds like a rejected Harry Potter rip-off.
Despite the fact that Austan Goolsbee went to the University of Chicago School of Economics, I remain an unabashed fan of his. He's still one of the funniest guys in Washington (believe me that's saying something). Any guy who goes on The Daily Show repeatedly to explain Economics to the people is okay by me.
But now it seems someone has decided to let the man in front of the camera again, which is going to do nothing but good. It's quick. It's informative, and it's right to the point. It's an Ezra Klein column in video form. Literally.
So White House, if you're watching...please. More of this.
